I’m Charisa, a stereotypical coffee-loving designer with a special appreciation for written words and beautiful letters. My design process begins with exploratory research, closely followed by the selection of a solid type pairing and the perfect color palette. I’m happy to call Upstate South Carolina my home, and outside the studio, you can find me spending quality time with friends and family, furthering my hand lettering skills, or cheering on the Clemson Tigers football team.
Thoughts on Design
I understand design to be a visual language and mode of communication that enhances and improves peoples’ lives. In order to effectively serve that purpose, I strive to give attention to every individual detail that is necessary for the project’s composition. Whether it is the right typeface duo, the appropriate colors, or the placement of any element on a page, I examine each factor to determine how it assists the design in fully accomplishing its intended purpose. Thus, my design process begins with an extensive inquiry to determine what the project goals are and how they can best be reached. My sketchbooks are filled with many written words that I use to draw conclusions and develop concepts that will attain those goals, and in turn, use the visual language of design to enhance lives.
